Simulation settings: prices and heat-load materials
Set the default values every profitability calculation starts from: planning horizon, prices, heat-pump assumptions, and custom heat-load materials.
The simulation settings provide the default values for every profitability calculation in Reonic. You can override any value per offer, but a clean baseline saves a lot of time.
This page covers the defaults you set. Open the settings
Open Settings > Simulation > Simulation Basics. Set the company-wide baseline here, then override any value on an individual offer when needed.
Simulation Basics has a Residential and a Commercial tab. Set the planning horizon separately on each.
Planning horizon
The default period for the profitability calculation, set separately for residential and commercial. Typical is 20 years, and you can override it per offer.
Heat-pump default values
- Heat-pump electricity tariff. A separate tariff, if you offer your own.
- Replacement-heating purchase cost. The typical cost of a replacement gas or oil heating (for example €8,000) and the period over which it would have been due anyway (for example 5 years). Reonic offsets this in the profitability.
Some of these heat-pump defaults live on the Electricity & gas prices page, under Default heating settings. If you don't see them on Simulation Basics, open that page instead.
Heat-load materials
Reonic ships standard materials with norm U-values for the room-by-room heat-load calculation. If your regional experience values differ, you can store custom materials.
Create a custom material
- Click New material.
- Choose the area, for example walls, windows, or other building elements.
- Define U-values graded by year-of-construction bands, as in the norm. For example: up to 1950, U-value 3.0; 1951 to 1980, U-value 2.0; from 1981, U-value 1.0.
- Save. Reonic then asks whether the custom material should be used in addition to the norm values or exclusively.
Use a custom material in the planning
Inside the planning, under Building and heat load, you see the materials after the scan. When your custom-materials library has changed since a planning was created, a banner appears in the materials area with an Update to latest custom materials button. Click it to pull the updated materials onto this planning. Each planning keeps the materials it was created with until you choose to update it, so changes you make in settings never shift a plan you are already working on.
When you update a material in settings, decide upfront whether ongoing projects should pull it. Refreshing all in-flight offers can shift numbers on quotes you have already discussed with customers.
