Set the planned installation date and bivalence temperature for the heat pump on an offer.

Once a heat pump is on the offer, the Heating Additional Settings tab carries the per-offer settings that shape the simulation and the customer-facing dates. These are separate from the catalog component. They live on this offer, and you adjust them per project. Heating-rod power and storage capacities aren't set here. They're properties of the planned catalog components, covered below.

Residential only. Heat pumps are a residential product, so this flow applies to residential projects.

Set the planned installation date

The Planned installation date field records when the heat pump is scheduled to go in. It's a per-offer date.

  1. Open the offer on the Planning view.
  2. Open the Heating section, then the Heating Additional Settings tab.
  3. Locate the Planned installation date field.
  4. Pick the date the heat pump is scheduled to be installed.
Pro tip: Set this once the customer has agreed a timeline. The date is per-offer, so it travels with this project rather than the catalog component.

Set the bivalence temperature

The bivalence temperature is the outside-temperature threshold below which the heating rod takes over from the heat pump. It controls the cold-weather handover point and shapes how much higher-cost direct-electric heating ends up in the annual operating cost.

  1. In the Heating Additional Settings tab, find the Bivalence temperature field. It defaults to −6°C.
  2. Lower the bivalence point (for example −8°C) when the heat pump is sized for very cold days and you want the rod to engage only in extreme conditions.
  3. Raise it (for example −2°C) when the heat pump is undersized for the building and the rod will routinely cover the winter shortfall.
Note: In a cold region, a −2°C bivalence point can push 20 to 30% of annual heating into the rod. The rod runs at a COP of 1 against the heat pump's 3 to 5, so each rod kWh costs three to five times as much. Check the operating cost after you change this.

Set the heating-rod power and storage sizes

Heating-rod power and storage tank capacities aren't fields on this tab. They're properties of the planned catalog components.

  • The standalone heating rod's power lives on the heating-rod catalog component (or the heat pump's integrated rod). To change the rod rating, edit the component in your components catalog.
  • Heating- and warm-water-storage capacities live on the heating-storage and warm-water-storage components (or the heat pump's integrated tanks). The offer shows the planned capacities read-only. To change a tank size, edit the matching component in your components catalog.

Run the simulation

The Heating Additional Settings tab itself has only a Save button. Saving stores the per-offer settings. The annual operating cost and the simulation results are computed on the planning surface once the heat-pump component and its tanks and rod are complete. The figures update there after you save.

Things to know

  • Below the bivalence point, the heating rod takes over from the heat pump. When the outside temperature drops below the bivalence point, the simulation draws on the rods you have planned, and the extra direct-electric heating shows up in the annual operating cost. Each rod's power comes from the relevant catalog component, not from this tab.
  • The simulation needs a complete heat-pump component. If the heat-pump component is missing its performance values, the simulation prompts you to complete them. Fill in the missing values on the catalog component, then re-run.
  • Add a heat pump to the offer — attach the heat pump to the offer before configuring these settings.
  • Dimensioning table — the heat-pump sizing surface.
