Heat load indication
Decide whether building-envelope heat-load indication is the right sizing method — a real heat-pump sizing basis without running a full room-by-room scan.
Reonic offers three ways to establish a building's heat load, in increasing accuracy. Heat load indication is the middle one: it derives the heat load from the building envelope, using standard U-values by build year, giving a genuine sizing basis without per-room detail.
When to use it
- Heat load indication (this method) — envelope-based, a real sizing basis, fast. Good for a committed offer where a full room-by-room scan isn't warranted yet.
- Simple simulation — base data only; use it when an external heat-load figure already exists and you just need a simulation. The step-by-step for entering the envelope data lives on that page.
- Room-by-room calculation — the full per-room method, and the only one that produces the hydraulic-balancing report and subsidy-grade documentation.
Pro tip: Sanity-check the indicated heat load against the customer's actual consumption — compare the result in kWh/m² against their old heating bill (see the existing heating you captured). A large gap usually means a wrong build year or insulation assumption.
Things to know
- It's an indication, not a certified calculation. If the customer needs documentation for a subsidy application or you're swapping radiators, use the room-by-room method instead.
