Project management (commercial)

This page covers two ideas specific to commercial projects that are easy to conflate with their residential equivalents: the per-project task kanban and its lanes, and the fact that project-management tasks are a separate scope from your personal task list.

Understand the two kanbans

There are two different kanbans, and only one of them is what this page configures:

• The workflow kanban (request to offer to installation) exists for both residential and commercial projects. It tracks where a project sits in the overall pipeline. This is not the kanban configured here. To set that up, go to Board management.
• The task kanban organises a single project's tasks into lanes. It is available for commercial projects only. This is the one you configure on the Project management (commercial) page.

Configure task-kanban lanes

The lanes are the columns commercial projects sort their tasks into.

1. Lanes are defined once for your whole workspace (one shared lane set per company) and are configured by an admin. Individual users do not create their own lanes. Open Settings > Tasks > Project management (commercial).
2. Set up the lanes that match how your commercial projects organise work.

Note: Lanes group tasks visually rather than driving the workflow. Moving a task between lanes changes how the project's work is sorted on the board, so use the lanes to keep a project's tasks organised. Drag each task to the lane you want.

Understand the separate task scope

Project-management tasks sit in a separate scope from your personal task views. Tasks that belong to project management stay out of the personal task list, so your personal task view stays focused on your own work rather than every project task.

Things to know

• The task kanban is for commercial projects. Residential projects use the workflow kanban.
• Lanes are set once for your workspace (one shared lane set per company) by an admin in Settings > Tasks > Project management (commercial).
• Lanes group tasks visually. Drag a task to move it into a lane.
• Project-management tasks stay out of personal task views as a separate scope.
