Create a new request

Learn how to create a new customer request in Reonic from scratch, including contact details and correct address setup for accurate simulations.

Requests are the starting point for every project in Reonic. Whether a customer contacts you about a solar installation or heat pump, you'll create a request to track the opportunity from initial inquiry through to offer.

Before You Begin

This guide covers creating requests manually. Note that requests can also be imported automatically through integrations, API connections, or Zapier, which are covered in separate guides.

Pro tip: The process is identical for residential and commercial requests—the steps below work for both project types.

Starting a New Request

Here's where to begin creating a new request.

  1. Click Requests in the left sidebar
  2. Select Residential Requests or Commercial Requests
  3. Click the New Request button in the top-right corner
  4. Choose whether to create a new contact or use an existing one

You can search for existing contacts if the customer is already in the system, or create a new contact from scratch.

Adding Contact Information

When creating a new contact, you'll need to fill in several required fields.

Required fields:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Email address
  • Physical address

The address is mandatory because the system uses the location to calculate accurate solar radiation, temperature, and weather data for system simulations. Without an address, the system can't provide accurate performance estimates.

Optional fields:

Phone numbers and other details can be added now or later.

Setting the Address Correctly

Reonic uses Google address matching to ensure accuracy.

  1. Start typing the customer's address in the address field
  2. Select the correct address from the Google suggestions that appear
  3. The system automatically fills in additional details including coordinates
  4. Click Select Coordinates to verify the location
  5. Check that the red marker is on the correct building
  6. If needed, drag the marker to the exact location
  7. Click Save

Pro tip: Always verify the coordinates, especially for rural properties or multi-building sites. Accurate location data ensures correct solar simulation results.

Customers won't receive any notification when a request is created—no emails are sent automatically at this stage.

Finding Your New Request

After clicking Save, the request opens automatically. If you navigate back to the Kanban board, you'll see a new tile for the request you just created.

New requests appear in the 'Without Status' column initially, and you can drag them to the appropriate column (like 'Call 1' or 'Call 2') to organize your workflow.

Pro tip: The 'Without Status' column disappears when empty, keeping your board clean and organized.

What's Next?

Your request is now created and visible on the Kanban board. The next step is to review the request details, pre-qualify the lead using checklists, and convert it to an offer when it's ready.

Check out the guide on managing and qualifying requests to learn how to work with request details, checklists, and converting requests to offers.
